Projects

Here you will find instructions for projects, specific ring counts and measurements (Aspect Ratio) will be given to complete the project shown.  Remember that using materials and colors you choose will make the piece your own.  Size matters not the exact materials, those are incidental.  If you would like to use the same materials a list has been provided in Sources and Materials.

If you would like to see completed versions of these projects, please feel free to have a look at the Photo Gallery .

There are now six jump rings linked into three pairs on the chain.

4. Fold the last pair of rings back against the first pair rings.

5. Push the folded rings forward and spread the outer rings open, turn the unit 1/4 turn to create and reveal the "eye".

6. Slide an open ring through the eye, and close it.  Add one more through the eye and close it as well.

7. Slide 2 more open jump rings to the pair of rings just added, and close them.

8. Slide 2 more open rings through the last pair of ring added, and close the rings.  Repeat steps 5 and 6.  One link (unit) is complete and should look something like this.

Did you notice, that you can repeat steps 7 and 8 and then steps 5 and 6 to continue with the chain?

After the last pair of rings has been folded into place (step 5), and the next pair of rings is added locking the unit into place (step 6),  add 2 more pairs of rings (Steps 7 and 8).  Fold the final pair of rings back (step 5 again), and add the next pair that locks the chain into place (step 6 again).  Continue until the chain is as long as you would like.

*Remember the longer the chain the more metal is used and the piece will get heavier.

Once you have completed the length of chain, finish with one set of jump rings you held back at the beginning of the project on each end of the chain, don't forget to remove the twist ties, scrap wire you used to mark the beginning of the chain.

Courtier's Parure

This lovely set is a traditional Parure, or matching set of jewelry.  It includes Necklace, Earrings and Bracelet.  If you would like a ring to match, you may make the project One Ringy-Dingy.

Materials: Listed per item

AR: 3.7
Total Ring count:

Necklace:
325 - 20 gauge Sterling Silver plated (over brass) 3mm ID Jump Rings
With Dags (drops) 3--

You now have a total of 108 outer rings.

Adding the Dags - The little accent drops from the main chain are called dags.  These form short little triangle shapes and depending on the number of rings can be made wider, longer, or a short single ring accent.

66 + 1 Sterling Silver plated 18g 3mm Jump rings

Open 23 jump rings
Close 44 jump rings

1. Place four closed rings on one open ring and close the ring.

2. Flip the rings so they lay flat on your work surface.  Like this.

3. Place two closed rings on one open ring.

4.  Slide the open ring down (into) the ring on the bottom, and up (through) the ring on the top.  Close the ring.

Repeat steps three and four until your ring is the required length.  About 2-1/2".

Closing the ring:

Slide one open ring down into the bottom ring and up through the top ring.  Form the ring shape around a finger or mandrel so you can hold it steady and bring the opposite side up and around to meet the jump ring.  Slide the jump ring up through the ring on the left and down through the ring on the right.  Close the ring.

Your ring is complete and ready to wear.

There is no beginning or end, the circle is continuous.  Amaze your friends with this fun puzzle.

Makes a very pretty decoration.  Perfect for those that like the look of maille, but do not want to wear a large piece.

Project Note:  For a larger ring continue to follow steps three and four until the desired size is reached.  Check by measuring around the finger it is to fit, or the correct size on a ring mandrel.  Close the ring as described in the final step of the project.
